Travis Kraft, who is now following his dream to become an actor, first gained fame as a Three-time North Dakota state wrestling champion.
Travis recently graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Telecommunications and Film degree. He grew up in Bismarck, North Dakota, which he left to attend Eastern Michigan University on wrestling scholarship in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
He majored in Telecommunications and Film, "because I am a total film buff" and minored in Psychology. "I was interested in psychology because athletics, especially the sport of wrestling, is very much mental. EMU is also where I first studied acting," Travis said in an interviews.
Talking about his success as a wrestler, he says "I became interested in wrestling at a very young age, 9 or so. I decided to try it and progressed very fast. I soon decided to make it the focus of my life. I won 3 state high school wrestling championships and had a #1 ranking in the nation. I also am a All-American in freestyle and Greco- Roman. One year the Olympic Training Center invited me to stay and train there. It was a great experience and a real honor. I am very pleased with my career and proud of it. I feel I accomplished all my goals in the sport."
Travis also took up fencing for ahwile and started to get really good at it. "I love combat sports and I already had the killer instinct and mind set for fencing from wrestling."
At age 13, he made the decision to become an actor. "When I made that decision I cut off all other possiblities of what I was going to do with my life."
He appeared recently in a movie about Jesus and played the Roman responsible for scurging Christ. "It was a lot of fun because it was a period piece and I have always wanted to do period films because you get to dress in crazy stuff that you normally would never get a chance to wear in the real world. Every day I came to the set I got to lose my pants and put on a leather skirt which was very liberating. In additon to the skirt, I got to wear armor and a red cape for some scenes. I looked very much the gladiator."
Travis adds that his family has been a great influence. "Because of the way I was raised I never got into drinking or drugs. This is something I am very proud of."
He says he is inspired to do his best by "...all the negative people around. A lot of people are petty and have tried somewhat in life and failed. They often criticize as if they are some kind of expert. It is a great feeling to have success which makes them even more bitter. Living well truly is the best revenge."
Now living in California, Travis says that as far as his career is concerned, "I just want to make movies that are really cool and that people enjoy. For films I would like to do fun stuff such as getting to beat up and kill people in a stylish way. I know this makes me sound like a violent person but I am really talking about making action films. I think in films there is a difference between "action" and "violence."
As you will note from the pictures with this feature, Travis also works as a model in California.
